Abstract

635,415. Variable condensers. SCAIFE, F. N., and BUCKINGHAM, J. April 5, 1948, No. 9478. [Class 37] A variable condenser more particularly for trimming purposes comprises a stator 3 having internal helical vanes 4 and a rotor 1 having external helical vanes 2 co-operating with those of the stator to vary the capacity between them when the rotor is screwed in or out of the stator. The two sets of co-operating vanes are air spaced, an insulated bush 12 having a similar screw thread being provided to effect the relative movement between the electrodes upon rotation of the rotor shaft by means of projections 13 provided on the insulated bush 12.
