Abstract

635,237. Valves. DANIELS, Ltd., T. H. & J., and JOHNSON, A. O. R. March 10, 1947, No. 6663. [Class 135] A piston slide-valve for controlling fluids at a pressure of, e.g., 2000 p.s.i., having means to overcome the resistance to axial movement of the piston due to .capillary action between the piston and its bore, comprises a ported casing 10, housing a piston 11 and having a detachable extension 14 formed with a slot 13. An operating arm 12 secured to an extension of the piston has a spring-urged bush 15 which coacts with the slot 13, whilst a spring-loaded sleeve 18 engages a recess 20 formed around the slot 13 to maintain the piston in its adjusted position. In operation, the sleeve 18 is disengaged from the recess 20 by a collar 17 on the arm 12 and the arm 12 moved in the slot 13 to impart a combined angular and axial movement to the piston. The arm 12 may be mechanically-actuated.
