Abstract
635,196. Fluid-pressure servomotor-control systems. BRAME, E., and POWER JETS (RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT), Ltd. May 24, 1945, No. 13065. [Class 135] A control device for a fluid-flow system, e.g. a fuel supply system for aircraft, comprises an adjustable metering valve 2, actuated by a servomotor, e.g. the diaphragms 3, 4, by the pressure of the fluid controlled, a pilot valve 7 connected directly by a follow-up lever linkage 7a, 9, 2a, to the servomotor and metering valve, and means, e.g., the capsules 2b, 7b, and the cam 14, influenced by variable quantities unrelated to the fluid controlled, acting directly on the linkage at spaced points. Variation of atmospheric pressure acting on the capsule 2b or of boost pressure on the capsule 7b initiates movement of the valve 7 so that one of the diaphragm chambers 3a, 4a, is placed under pressure from the fuel conduit 1 and the other is opened to exhaust via the passages 5, 6, and 8 respectively. The pivot 10 of the lever 9 is adjustable by the cam 14 operated in accordance with engine speed, e.g. from the throttle control lever. A temperature responsive capsule may also be included in the follow-up linkage. The servomotor may be constituted by a single diaphragm or a piston.
