Abstract

563,244. Regulating. FISHER, C. H., and ZENITH CARBURETTER CO., Ltd. Dec. 29, 1942, No. 18456. [Class 7 (vi)] [Also in Group XXIX] To vary the fuel flow in accordance with engine speed, a metering valve 16 is disposed between two pressure regulators 10, 13 in the fuel supply system and the valve is controlled on the one hand by a centrifugal governor 23 to which it is connected by a rod 19 pivoted at 18 to a lever 20, of which the other end is operatively connected through a servomotor 30 to a diaphragm or capsule device providing a chamber 26a open to boost pressure, a chamber 26b subject to temperature variations in the induction manifold and a chamber 26c open to exhaust back pressure. As shown in Fig. 2, a second metering valve 27 in parallel with the valve 16 is actuated by an extension 28b of the lever 20 to enrich the mixture at high boost pressures. The two valves may be controlled. separately, the valve 16 by the governor and the valve 27 by the capsule assembly, and be arranged in series.
