Abstract
634,564. Reservoir pens. FEHLING, H. R., and ROSIN, P. O. Oct. 10, 1945, No. 26388. [Class 146 (iii) In a ball-point fountain pen, the ink in the reservoir increases in viscosity with the distance away from the ball so that the tendency to leakage as the ball gap increases due to wear is lessened. As shown, the reservoir comprises a capillary tube 3 charged with two inks 7a, 7b of equal density to prevent their mixing, the ink 7b being of greater viscosity than that of the ink 7a. The ink column is subject to atmosphere pressure through an air-hole 5. Inks.-The inks may consist of collophony, castor oil, ricinoleic acid and basic dyes, the proportions being such that the viscosities of the inks 7a, 7b are 5 poise and 50 poise respectively, but the densities are substantially the same.
