Abstract

633,351. Hose couplings. CARLING, E. C. Oct. 3, 1946, No. 29563. [Class 99(i)] A hose-end fitting 5 having an insert portion 10 is secured to a rubber hose 4 by moulding under pressure a ferrule 7 of plastic material around the hose and fitting, the material being compressed by a ram 6 in a ring moulded 1 having a divided end plate 2, so as to contract the hose end on to the insert. The mould has a pressure bar 16 against which the fitting bears, an electrical heater 9, and a gasket 11. A split adaptor sleeve 14 may be provided between the ram and the hose. The ferrule is keyed to the fitting and hose at 8 and 18.
