Addition to 596,070. i[Class 65 (i)] [Also in Group XII] The suspension device for a vertically movable furnace or other door described in the parent Specification, is modified by forming the lever, or each lever 5, to which the door 3 is pivoted, with a second arm or extension to which is connected a counterbalance spring 7 anchored at 9 to the furnace casing, the arrangement being such that the leverage exerted by the spring increases and its strain decreases as it moves away from the lever pivot 4 in a downward direction when the door is raised.
