Abstract

633,102. Pulverizing. PATTINSON, G. H. March 24, 1947, No. 7973. [Class 59] An impact breaker of the rotary type wherein a rotor having a series of radial hammers revolves within a housing or casing having a roughened or ribbed interior surface constituting an anvil against which the material to be broken or granulated by impact is thrown by the heads of the revolving hammers, has the anvil or striking surface formed by a number of attrition-resistant blocks detachably mounted side by side so as to form a striking surface for the material which is impacted by the hammer heads, some at least of the blocks employed being provided on their striking surfaces with recesses shaped so as to retain some of the crushed or broken material, thereby forming a protecting layer for the anvil or striking surface. Anvil blocks 4a, 4b, 4c and 4d with pocket-like recesses 8 adapted to retain the material thrown thereagainst and are detachably mounted alternatively with anvil blocks 4e, 4f, 4g and 4h having recesses 9 which merge with the recesses 8. Sides 12 of the blocks 4a, 4b, 4c and 4d are so inclined as to direct material into the recesses. Specification 489,678 is referred to.
