Abstract
554,441. Impact pulverizers. THORNE, N. A. L., and DAGLISH, N. Dec. 31, 1941, No. 16837. [Class 59] In apparatus for breaking or granulating stone or the like having a rotor with hammers thereon revolving within a chamber into which the material to be broken is fed and against the interior of which the material is thrown by the hammers of the rotor, the rotor 11 is in the form of a cylinder with hammers 14 secured to its external periphery and is provided with an internal flange 21 which is bolted to a flanged member 22 permanently secured to the shaft 12. The side walls 16 of the chamber are provided with liner plates 17 the inner edges of which are located around the periphery of the rotor. The hammers 14 may consist of lengths of railway track and are bolted to projections 15 on the rotor. The periphery of the chamber is lined with breaker bars 18 held against the outer edges of the liner plates by cover plates 19. The rotor is driven through change speed gear of the belt and expanding pulley type.
