Abstract
632,679. Lubricating. PILGRIMS WAY MOTOR CO., Ltd., and ARMITAGE, E. L. Feb. 7, 1947, Nos. 3628/47 and 2087/48. [Class 12 (iii)] [Also in Group XXVIII] Liquid stored in a tank is pumped through a passage 12, valves 13, 16, to an accumulator 7, until the pressure is sufficient to move valve 5 past the detent 19 to close the port to valve 16 and connect accumulator 7 to passage 25 and outlet 33. The passage 25 is connected to a byepass valve 6 and liquid leaks past the reduced end until sufficient pressure is built up to move the valve 6 past the detent 41 and connect passage 25 to the drain port 29 leading back to the tank. The other ends of valves 5 and 6 operate in a similar manner and are connected to the accumulator 8 and outlet 34. The ends of the chambers into which the ends of the valve 6 move have relief valves 39, 40. An alternative arrangement is shown in Fig. 12 wherein the accumulators 7, 8 are replaced by pumps 44 arranged so that the plungers are moved on their suction strokes by cams 50 and in their delivery strokes by springs 46 and each pump delivers to an outlet 55 or 56 also having connections to the byepass valve 6 to terminate delivery. The apparatus may be driven from a part of a vehicle and arranged to deliver lubricant intermittently to parts to be lubricated or alternatively deliver lubricant intermittently to a lubricant delivery system as described in Specification 500,740.
