Abstract

631,782. Welted footwear. STEAD & SIMPSON, Ltd., and SHAW, A. G. Nov. 14, 1947, No. 30303. [Class 17 (ii)] A shoe has a welt strip 4 stitched at 6 at about its centre line to an upper 5 and to a lip 3 of an insole, thus forming two flaps. One flap 4a is stuck to a sole 7 and the other is turned over and attached to the first flap forming an external roll or tubular formation 8. The width of the flap 4a is such that its edge is flush with the face of the sole 7. An outsole 9 may be stuck to the midsole 7 and its edge which is in line with the flap face may be covered by a strip 11. The soles 7, 9 and welt strip 4 may be of crepe rubber.
