Abstract

700,520. Welted shoes. HAYNES & CANN, Ltd., and KITCHIN, R. J. Feb. 6, 1952 [April 19, 1951], No. 9174/51. Class 17(2) A welted shoe has a compound welt 3 formed from superimposed layers 3a, 3b, of different materials, to the edge of which and the outer sole is attached a foxing strip 6. The layer 3a may be of crepe rubber or similar material and the layer 3b of suede leather and the foxing may be of leather, crepe rubber or similar material stuck in position. The upper edge 6a of the foxing is of reduced thickness, e.g. skived, and 'is secured between the shoe upper or a storm welt and the top layer 3a of the welt.
