Abstract

630,818. Rotary engines. LAMBRINOS, C. Aug. 27, 1947, No. 23743. [Class 110(ii)] The engine has an oscillating abutment 28 which co-acts with a radial piston 20 on a rotor 18 rotating in a working chamber bounded by a casing 10, end walls 12 and bosses 14. The abutment is oscillated by means of a cam 34 on the main shaft 16 and returned by a spring 40, and working fluid, which may be steam, compressed air or other elastic fluid, is admitted through an inlet 30 under control of a slide valve 42. An exhaust port 32 is provided. The web 22, of the rotor 18, fills the space between the ends of the bosses 14, and is keyed to the shaft 16. L-shaped packing pieces are provided in the piston and the abutment carries packing 48. Two or more engines may operate on the shaft which may carry a flywheel 56. Balance weights for the rotor may be provided.
