630,283. Crates for carboys. BARKER, A., BARKER, R., and BARKER, S. March 12, 1947, No. 6936. [Class 18] A protective container for demijohns, carboys and the like consists of a hamper or cradle formed of vertical rods or stringers a bent at their lower ends to support a bottom disc c in a slightly elevated position and secured at their upper ends to a rim d, each stringer having a D-shaped separator e secured to 'its inner side to support circular straps f concentric with disc c. The cradle may be enclosed in a rectangular sheet metal box g having a raised base h, handles k and its upper edges g<SP>3</SP> bent around the rim d. Notches g<SP>4</SP> are provided in two opposite. walls of the box to receive the lugs j<SP>1</SP>, Fig. 3, of a lid j. In a modified construction the cradle comprises twelve stringers encircled by spaced rings m, Fig. 9 (not shown), four of the stringers having separators e supporting spaced circular straps f<SP>1</SP>, Fig. 8, one or both of which may be connected at the ends by adjustable bolts n and the lower strap provided with cross strips r to rest on the disc c. Both straps are provided with rubber buffers p, Figs. 8 and 11.
