630,096. Two-part couplings. PIERCE FOUNDATION, J. B. May 5, 1947, No. 13113. Convention date, Oct. 26, 1946. [Class 38 (i)] [Also in Group XXXVII] A socket-outlet unit for attachment to a conductor-carrying strip in a strip wiring system without severing the conductors 21 thereof, comprises a hollow cover 25 having apertures 25a for plug pins and recesses 27, 31 for the reception of contact and conductor embracing members 28. The latter are preferably formed of phosphor bronze and have portions 28a embracing sections of the conductors 21 from which the insulation has been stripped. Formed integral with the portions 28a are pairs of wings 28b, 28c and blade contacts 30, compression of the wings into the recesses 27 causing the portions 28a to grip the conductors, the contacts 30 entering the recesses 31 beneath the apertures 25a. End portions 29 on the cover shroud the ends of the insulation of the wiring strip, holes 33 also being provided in the end portions for screws which serve both to secure a bottom 26 to the cover and to attach the unit to a support. The wiring strip may be of the type described in 630,097.
