Abstract

628,923. Washing- machines. WESTING- HOUSE ELECTRIC INTERNATIONAL CO. July 31, 1947, No. 20802. Convention date, Aug. 10, 1946. [Class 138 (ii)] [Also in Groups XIII and XXIV] A domestic clothes tumbler has a basket 16 rotated about a horizontal axis, the open end of the basket being cradled on an endless belt 41 over pulleys 42 and 43, whilst the other end is supported on a trunnioned bearing 24, allowing for eccentricity of the basket 16. The motor 51 which drives pulley 43 is resiliently mounted on the drier with its frame torque opposing that due to the weight of the basket to enhance the grip of the belt and also to relieve the stress on the resilient mounting. The basket may be heated, and be either perforate or imperforate.
