Abstract
628,184. Cardboard containers &c. BELL, J. G. Oct. 21, 1946, No. 31224. Convention date, Oct. 22, 1945. [Classes 18 and 66] A container for frozen foodstuffs &c. has a double wall of cardboard &c. one layer of which is crimped intermediate of its upper and lower edges to provide insulating airspaces between the two walls and to stiffen the container, the two layers being formed by rolling a single blank and securing the outer end, e.g. by tabs in slits in the wall, or by adhesive. The lower inner and the upper outer corners are cut away to facilitate setting up the blank, and the inner layer is deeper than the outer, so that when wound, upper and lower margins may be folded over as illustrated, the inner layer being folded inwardly at 22 to cover the edge of the outer layer; a metal hoop reinforcement may be inserted between the upper folded margins and the wall. The cover may be a flat disc 31 flanged, e.g. as illustrated, its inside diameter being greater than the outside diameter of the container base to facilitate stacking. The bottom may be a flanged disc 25 held by the folded margin of the wall, or a flat disc supported by an angle-ring likewise held.
