Abstract
639,401. Non-metallic cylindrical containers. PETERS, R. P. April 2, 1947, No. 8924. [Classes 18 and 66] A cylindrical container body has a double wall A, B, each layer comprising superposed laminations of paper &c. wound on a mandrel, the outer layer B extending beyond the inner at at least one end and, being turned inwardly over an end closure disc E of fibre-board or plywood &c. to which it may be wire-stitched as at G. The end E may be covered inside and out by paper discs H, I, and an angle-section metal end-ring J may be fitted. The inner layer A may project as shown to receive a lid K, the end disc M of which may be wirestitched and glued and paper-covered like the base. The inturned extensions F and N may be notched so as to form series of tabs. The container may be proofed with paraffin wax and the lid held on by tape or a gummed strip.
