Abstract
628,005. Discharge converters. MARCONI'S WIRELESS TELEGRAPH CO., Ltd. Dec. 23, 1946, No. 37784. Convention date, Dec. 28, 1945. [Class 39 (i)] A cold cathode gas-filled rectifier has a cathode 2, e.g. aluminium, and an anode 3, e.g. nickel. The latter is surrounded by a sheath 5 of insulating material permeable to electrons, e.g. closely woven glass. The filling may be neon within the pressure range .05/.5 mm. Stated advantages are high inverse voltage characteristic and moderate starting voltage. Operational data and theory of action are given.
