Abstract

Asym-dichloroethylene is stabilized against polymerization and oxidation by incorporating therein isopropylamine in, e.g. amounts of 0.005 to 0.2 per cent by weight of halogenide. The stabilizer is effective at elevated temperatures, in daylight and in distillation processes. Inert materials for use with the stabilized compound include glass, stainless steel, nickel, enamelled iron, and "Monel" metal ("Monel" is a Registered Trade Mark), but mild steel, zinc, lead, aluminium and copper are liable to attack and to shorten the effective period of stabilization.
