Abstract
627,787. Laminated springs. FOX & CO., Ltd., S., and STIRLING, C. May 7, 1947, No. - 12354. [Class 108 (iii)] A plate 7, Fig. 1, lies flat against the main leaf 8 of a laminated spring, is wrapped round the main spring eye 9 at its outer end, and is attached to other leaves of the spring at, at least, two other points along its length, the arrangement being such that twist on the spring is transmitted from the main leaf to the other leaves of the spring to which the plate is attached. The plate 7 is connected by inverted U-shackles 13 and rounded cross-bars 14 to a spring leaf 11 of average length and to a short leaf 12. In a modification, Fig. 4, the shackles are formed by bent-down lugs 19 integral with the plate 7 and connected by pins 17 to eyes 11a, 12a on the leaves 11, 12. The shackles may be upright or inverted, and of flat crosssection ; they may be riveted to the plate 7, and may be connected to the eyes 11a, 12a or directly to the plates 11, 12. The arms of the shackles may pass through lugs in the plate. Specification 320,346, [Class 108 (iii)], is referred to.
