[Class 40 (viii)] A piezo - electrically controlled circuit includee a number of crystal circuits designed to have a common resonant frequency and loss intro. ducing coupling means connect points in the cir. cuits which have sub. stantially no potential difference therebetween in operation at the common frequency but are not at the same potential at other frequencies. The loss producing means will then damp out oscillations at all frequencies other than the common frequency. In order to ensure that the unwanted resonances in the crystals are dissimilar, a slight deliberate difference may be made in their electrode or quartz dimensions. As shown, crystals C are coupled to a negative inductance D by lines of length #/4, where A is the common resonant wave length and damping- resistances R are inserted. At unwanted resonance frequencies in one crystal and its attendant network, the other crystal will act substantially as a short circuit and its resistance R will damp the oscillations.
