Abstract
472,650. Impedance networks; valve circuits for wireless reception. MARCONI'S WIRELESS TELEGRAPH CO., Ltd. March 26, 1936, No. 9067. Convention date, March 26, 1935. [Classes 40 (iii) and 40 (v)] A resonator, particularly for use with ultrashort waves comprises inner and outer coaxial conductive members coupled at one end and open-ended at the other, with input and output connections taken individually from the inner conductor. It may alternatively comprise a pair of wires open at one end and connected at the other, with a condenser bridging the trough of the U and with individual connections from each wire to the input or output. Fig. 1 shows a dipole aerial A coupled to a pair of resonators 1 in the input of high-frequency amplifiers 6, 7. In a modification, Fig. 2, the aerial is inductively coupled. Inductively, coupled U-shaped resonators form the inter-valve coupling to the push-pull detectors 17, 18 which are fed in phase with local oscillations through the condenser 23 from an oscillator 12 associated with a resonator 13. Volume is controlled by varying the screen voltage by potentiometer 31. The adjustable tappings on the resonators are used to match input and output while tuning in the case of inner and outer coaxial members may be effected by lengthening or shortening the length of the inner conductor. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 comprises also resonators applied to short-wave transmitting systems. This subjectmatter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
