Abstract

625,743. Mouth-piece attachments. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES, Ltd., CRAGG, W. D., and GAYFORD, M. L. Oct. 2, 1946, No. 29362. [Class 40 (iv)] In a microphone windshield any solid member, apart from supporting members having no wind shielding effect, has at least two perpendicular dimensions of the order of 0.0075 inch or less. The embodiment described comprises a hemispherical woven screen 5 supported by a hemispherical block of fine filaments 6. The screen 5 is of silk or stainless steel thread of not more than 0.0075 inch diameter and has about 50 threads to the inch. The block 6 is of rubberised hair with an approximate density of 500 filaments to the square inch. The screen and block are stated to share substantially equally in the shielding effect.
