Abstract
625,274. Automatic firearms. ZBROJOVKA BRNO, NARODNI PODNIK. Aug. 13, 1946, No. 24071. Convention date, Jan. 9, 1939. [Class 119] A safety device for an automatic firearm comprises a ring 30 mounted for rotation on a tube 10 housing the recoil spring 11, this tube assisting to hold the butt 7 to the breech casing. The trigger, which pivots on a pin 23, also has pivoted to it a lever 20 and carries an extension 24 which serves to hold the breech block carrier 2 in the retracted position (shown dotted), when it is desired to insert a magazine. On pulling the trigger, this carrier flies forward under the action of the recoil spring 11 when a hammer 3 pivoted to the breech carrier 2 engages a sear 14 mounted for rotation on a bolt 8 in the trigger casing. Joined to this sear is a lever 15 carrying a tooth 16 and also mounted for rotation on the bolt 8. Further pulling of the trigger causes the lever 20 to move rearwardly and to engage a tooth 21 on its forward end in the tooth 16 of the lever 15, thereby rotating this lever and the sear 14 against the action of a spring 18 mounted in the trigger casing, thus permitting the hammer to slip past the sear to strike the firing-pin. Firing is continued until the trigger is released. With the safety device set at safe by means of a finger piece 31 the rear end of the lever 20, which is urged downwards by a spring 25, is held up by an extension 32 of the safety device thereby preventing engagement of the tooth 21 with the tooth 16 and leaving the sear 14 in such a position as to prevent the hammer 3 from striking the firing-pin.
