Abstract
623,876. Spectacles. BOSCOVITCH, J. May 22, 1947, Nos. 13803 and 35158. [Class 97 (i)] A temple hinge has fixed thereto a threaded anchoring stud adapted to screw into a spectacle front, and means associated with such stud to resist accidental unscrewing of same. The invention is particularly for use with fronts of plastic material, the stud cutting its own thread as it is screwed into a hole therein. As shown in Fig. 2, the stud 3 may have a slot 4 which, when the stud is inserted in the spectacle front, is engaged by a bar-like key, the latter being pressed into the material of the front to clamp the stud. Alternatively, the stud may have an internal bore 6, Fig. 5, to receive a locking screw 7, or a further threaded portion 10, Fig. 9, to receive a nut 11, the tread of portions 6, 10 being of different pitch and/or of different hand from that of the stud. A washer having a serrated face which becomes embedded in the spectacle front may be used with the studs shown in Figs. 5, 9 and the undersides of the head 8 and of nut 11 may also be serrated,
