Abstract

933,050. Screw-sockets; locking bolt-like pins; stud and socket fastenings. GENERAL MOTORS CORPORATION. March 23, 1962 [April 17, 1961], No. 11154/62. Classes 44 and 89 (1). A synthetic resin cap, with a smooth bore 40 closed at one end by a dome 42, has an enlarged base 34 at the other end surrounded by a resilient thin flange 36 normally extending away from the dome 42 but when acting as a seal it may be flattened transversely to the cap axis as shown; a portion 32, adjacent the base 34, has a surface of non-circular section, e.g. hexagonal. The cap is used to secure a panel 14 to a support 10 by means of a screw 18, e.g. a machine screw, with at least one thread 20, or an unthreaded stud which has an interference fit in the cap bore 40.
