Abstract
The catalytic synthesis of liquid organic compounds from carbon monoxide and hydrogen is effected by passing them over a hydrogen reduced iron pyrite ash. Promoters may be present, potassium chloride, potassium phosphate, alkali metal aluminates, potassium and sodium carbonate being specified, or the oxides of copper, silver, nickel and thorium. The catalyst is suitable for fixed bed or fluidized type operation. The synthesis is carried out at high pressure and within the temperature range 350-650 DEG F.
