Abstract
623,599. Window regulators. CRAGGS, J. W. March 18, 1947, No. 7393. [Class 20(iii)] [Also in Group XXXI] Pivoted windows and the like are opened and closed from a remote position by a cable which slides to and fro in a sheath, being unwound from or wound onto the grooved rim of a wheel or ring-like member. The apparatus comprises a cable, consisting of a core J with a wire cover K, attached at one end by plate W to the window sash and operating through tubing E, which leads the other end of the cable into a housing A, mounted at the remote position. In the housing the cable is carried around a groove in the rim of a ring G, being secured to the ring at M. Internally the ring has teeth which are engaged by a cog wheel, N, to the shaft of which is secured a handle R. Thus a clockwise rotation of R causes the ring G to rotate and the cable to slide out through tube E to open the window, the fully open position being reached when stop H contacts the cog N. A locking device is provided on the handle so that the window may be set at any position. Specification 293,915, [Class 80(iii)], is referred to.
