Abstract

623,467. Reciprocating pumps. HOWARD, G. J. E., and MOORE & PARTNERS (ENGINEERS), Ltd., H. April 15, 1947, No. 9965. '[Class 102(i)] A pump is formed by providing a cylindrical block of carbon A, or other material that is chemically resistant to the liquid pumped, with the cylinders a<SP>1</SP> and valve spaces and passages a<SP>2</SP>, a<SP>3</SP> and is enclosed in a metal case B in such a manner that the block is under compression and the case takes all the tensile stress. The pistons C are made of stainless iron or steel and the valve seats e, f are of hard synthetic rubber and the valves E, F are made of stainless iron or steel. The inlet and outlet openings are lined with tubes H of carbon.
