Abstract

623,299. Sliding windows; draught excluders. CHESTON, A. S., EDMONDS, E. C., and CHESTON, B. April 26, 1947, No. 11230. [Class 20(iii)] A vertically sliding window 1, particularly for vehicles, is balanced by spring pressed rollers or shoes 10 mounted at the lower part of the window and cooperating with inclined stationary tracks &c. 12 located in the window well 2 so that the window may be retained in any adjusted position or given a positive closing movement, and the tracks are so shaped or disposed as to cause the lower part of the to the plane of the window as it approaches the fully raised position to press against a stationary weather sealing device 16 disposed adjacent the sill 3 at the top of the well. The tube housing 7 is fixed to the window channel 5 by plate 6 and is split so that the inverted V track 12 may pass therethrough and to permit movement of the rollers 10 mounted on plungers 9 and acted upon by compression springs 8. The guide 12 is bent as from A, inclined, or fixed in a flexed or curved position so that the top is outwardly disposed with respect to the bottom so that the window is given an outward or transverse movement to contact the rubber &c. strip 16. The guide channels 1a are lined to permit transverse movement of the panel. Two separate guides may be used instead of the track 12.
