Abstract
622.330. Foundry moulding-machines. NEW CONVEYOR CO., Ltd., SMITH, J. V., and AITCHISON, J. March 10, 1947, No. 6597. [Class 83 (i)] In a moulding-machine having substantially horizontal jointed arm parts 4, 6, each with a sand conveyer and 6 supporting a sand slinger 40 with a horizontal axis at right angles to the arm part 6, the arm parts 4, 6 are hollow to accommodate the conveyers. Sand may be supplied at 11, pass through a sieve 12, vibrated by an off-centre electric motor 13, and be carried by an elevator 10 to a shoot 14. It then falls on to a belt 20 driven by a motor 22 and carried by the duplex arm 4, 5 pivoted at 15. The belt 20 delivers the sand through a shoot 27 to a belt 32 driven by a motor 44 and bands 43, 45 and carried by the arm 6 pivoted at 31. The shaft 41 which carries the pulleys for the bands 43, 45 also carries the wheel 40 on to which the sand is delivered and which has blades 42 to project it through an opening 39. In modifications the elevator is omitted and the sand is deposited directly on to the belt 20, the arm 4, 5 being pivoted either on a low base 52, Fig. 6, or on the top of a pillar.
