Abstract

645,394. Sifting-apparatus. PHILLIPS, J. W. W., and HASKINGS, A. J. July 28, 1948, No. 20157. [Class 117] Sifting or screening apparatus comprises a hopper 4 which is adapted detachably to receive a screen 6 across its open base, and is hingedly mounted on a carrier 2 having fixed thereto a delivery shoot 3 and being pivotally supported by links 16 on the frame 1 so as to be capable of oscillation, preferably on a small radius to effect screening. During operation the hopper 4 is locked to the carrier 2 by means of a spring catch 7 provided with an operating handle 8 for unhitching the catch to enable the hopper to be swung about its pivot to discharge the unscreened material. A prime mover such as an electric or other motor 15 operates the screen through a crank shaft 12, bell crank lever 10, 11 and pivotal linkage 9. The motor 15 is mounted on the machine frame through the interposition of shock absorbing means.
