[Class 78 (i)] In a method of and an apparatus for conveying biscuits from a point at one level to a point at a second level, in which the biscuits are conveyed along a curved path between the two points, means are provided at the second level for turning the biscuits about a horizontal axis to come to lie substantially parallel to their direction at the first level. Biscuits 1, Fig. 1, are transferred from a conveyer 22 on to a conveyer 2 and are conveyed around a curved adjustable guide 6 between the conveyer 2 and a further conveyer 3 and at the point 15 where the conveyers 2 and 3 are lapped back on themselves around pulleys 5 and 10. A plate 23 temporarily receives each biscuit in turn and transfers it face upwards to a horizontal lap of the conveyer 3. As shown in Fig. 3, the position of the plate 23 and the pulley 10 may be adjusted relative to the pulley 5 in order to accommodate biscuits of varying shape or size, said plate 23 being connected through adjustable links 36, 37 and 39 to a stem 26 which carries the pulley 10 and may be adjusted vertically by means of a worm-wheel 30, a worm-nut 32 and a screw 50, and laterally by means of an eccentric cam 33 which rocks the stem 26. In a modification, Fig. 2, the biscuits are delivered to the horizontal lap of the conveyer 3 face downwards by extending the pulley 10 and removing the plate 23, and in another modification (not shown) the biscuits are reversed face to face at the point 15 by means of a fixed brush or a rotating brush or a stream of compressed air. In a further modification, Fig. 10, the biscuits are conveyed up the curved guide 6 as before, but at the point 15 they are carried along a horizontal lap of the conveyer 2.
