703,248. Endless-belt conveyers. LYONS & CO., Ltd., J., and DOUGLASS, M. A. W., [Representative of DOUGLASS, P. G.]. May 18, 1951 [May 18, 1950], No. 12454/50. Class 78(1) A conveyer for conveying articles such as trays in a curved path in an approximately horizontal plane comprises endless belts 12, 13 guided by rollers 16a, 16b to form over a portion of their paths two substantially parallel curved tracks, the belts along these tracks having their major surfaces substantially vertical and so spaced as to support jointly on their upper edges the trays, guides 19 preventing the trays from leaving the tracks. The belts engage in grooves 17<SP>1</SP> in tracks 17a, 17b of hardwood or metal with their upper edges projecting only slightly above the upper surface of the tracks. They pass respectively round driven pulleys 14a, 14b and idlers 15a, 15b arranged with their axes of rotation horizontal. The trays are fed to and from the conveyer by straight conveyer portions 10, 11. In a modification, Fig. 4 (not shown), a single conveyer belt replaces the belts 12, 13, being doubled on itself about guide pulleys to form two curved tracks. Specification 703,236 is referred to.
