[Class 59] A pulverizer comprises a cylindrical pulverizing chamber through which material to be pulverized may be drawn by means of a fan, a disc being disposed within the chamber nearer the inlet side than the outlet side and bearing peripheral hammers on the face adjacent the inlet and axial projections on the face adjacent the outlet no swing hammers or hammer screen being provided. The disc 20 which rotates with the fan 17, or independently, about a shaft 21 divides the cylindrical pulverizing chamber into two parts whose sizes are in the ratio of two to three, the disc 20 being nearer the inlet 13 than the outlet 14. Hammers 23 are fixed to the periphery of the disc 20 on the face adjacent the inlet and axial projections 27 are formed on the other face of the disc so that they overlap and coact with axial projections 29, 30 formed on the end wall 28 of the cylinder 12. The fan 17 draws the material to be pulverized through the apparatus and finally delivers it through a tube 28. An adjustable device 15 is provided to prevent the discharge of particles which are insufficiently pulverized. Ribs and grooves are provided in the bore of the cylinder 12. U.S.A.
