Abstract

550,942. Impact pulverizers. RUPRECHT, L. July 20, 1942, No. 10066. Convention date, July 21, 1941. [Class 59] In an impact pulverizer of the kind comprising a high-speed rotor 12 with pivoted hammers 16 arranged within a chamber 10 having a suction feed opening 20 adjacent the axis of rotation of the rotor and outlet openings in the peripheral wall 11 for the discharge of pulverized material, the material is fed to the chamber 10 from a hopper 25 having a bottom plate 27 provided with an aperture 28 through which material from the hopper is drawn by a current of air passing through a pipe 31 having its open lower end spaced from the plate 27 and of larger diameter than the aperture 28 in the plate 27. The pipe 31 is made adjustable by providing it with pins 36 which may engage steps 37 on the top of a sleeve 35 mounted on the hopper. Fig. 4 shows a modification in which the pipe 31 is provided with an adjustable cone 40 which forms an annular outlet for the air.
