Abstract

620,861. Chairs ; bookrests. BRITISH OVERSEAS AIRWAYS CORPORATION, and LEVER, G. G. Jan. 27, 1947, No. 2501. [Classes 52 (iii)] and 52 (v)] One or both arms of a chair are formed with recesses closed by a displaceable arm rest 17 and contain a table 19 hinged to an arm 24 transversely pivoted in the recess so that when the table is turned into alignment with the arm the whole assembly can be swung down into the recess. The arm 24 can be secured in an intermediate position in which the table will serve as a bookrest, a hinged book-ledge 39, normally flush with the table top, being provided. The table top, Fig. 11, can be used with either side uppermost and consists of plywood panels 41 faced with expanded rubber 43 and provided with sunk moulded plastic dishes 38 to receive drinking glasses or other articles. The transverse pivot 44 for the arm 24 can be detachably mounted by a dovetail fitting 45.
