Abstract

667,797. Levelling furniture. M. L. AVIATION CO., Ltd., and LOBELLE, M. J. O. Dec. 20, 1950. [Sept. 20, 1949] No. 24196/49. Class 52 (iii). In an article of furniture comprising a flat top member and four supporting legs, such as a table or a chair, the top member is divided into two parts which are hinged together, three of the legs being secured to one part of the top and the fourth leg to the other part, so that the four legs will settle on an irregular floor surface. As shown, legs 7, 8, 9 are secured to the larger part 5 of the top and the leg 10 to the part 6, the parts 5, 6 being connected by a hinge or by a piece of flexible metal extending the length of the division. A bar 17 and stirrup 18 of a movement limiting device are secured to the undersides of the parts of the table top which is covered with a unitary layer 16 of felt, rubber, &c., to conceal the division and any slight inclination between the parts 5, 6.
