Abstract

620,012. Metal &c. sheets for roofing &c. TURNERS ASBESTOS CEMENT CO., Ltd., and ASHMAN, H. W. Jan. 1, 1947, No. 85. [Classes 20(ii) and 87(i)] A building unit for a cavity roof or wall is of sheet material with a corrugated part in the middle having at least one pair of troughs 1, 2 of the same depth and relatively inverted, and with flat parts 7, 11 at the sides, the flat part 7 lying above the level of the top of the trough 2 by a distance equal to the thickness of the sheet and the flat part 11 lying below the level of the bottom of the trough 1 by a similar distance. Between the troughs and the flat parts 7, 11 are short flat parts 5, 8 stepped at 6, 10 by the thickness of the sheet. When a number of units are assembled the flat part 7 of one unit passes over the corrugated part of the next unit on one side and rests on the short flat part 5 thereof, and the flat part 11 passes under the corrugated part of the next unit on the other side and lies beneath the flat part 8 thereof. The assembly results in a roof or wall with two flush surfaces separated by a series of cavities and spaced apart by the walls of the corrugations. The sheets may be of metal or a non- metallic material e.g. asbestos-cement.
