576,177. Roofs, &c. WINWRIGHT, G. F., WALKER, R., and UNIVERSAL ASBESTOS MANUFACTURING CO., Ltd. March 2, 1944, No. 3938. [Classes 20 (iv) and 87 (i)] To prevent capillary action and to improve heat insulation, an air space is formed on the underside of a moulded roofing shingle of asbestos cement &c. by providing at its lower edge a downward knife-edged rib B, the front C of which is forwardly and downwardly inclined to the upper surface of the shingle. The upper edge of the shingle is plain or reduced in width. The shingle may be forced into a curve longitudinally by the pressure of the fixing nails.
