Abstract

551,350. Tile and slate battens. LLEWELYN J. B. Oct. 23, 1941, No. 13628. [Class 20 (iv)] A roofing support for tiles or slates comprises a metal strip with flanges 11, 12, and 'a 'base part 10, the edges of the flanges being sharpened serrated, or crimped tc obtain a grip on the wooden rafters 15 to which they are secured by nails driven through holes 14 in the base part. One flange 12, or each of the flanges is inclined at an obtuse angle with the base part, and the strip may be stiffened by projections .18 pressed across 'the junction of the base with the flanges. The holes 14 are slightly elongated in the direction of the length of the strip to allow for expansion or contraction.
