Abstract

619,733. Coal bunkers. MADGER, A. W. Dec. 23, 1946, Nos. 37693/46 and 14075/47. [Class 20(i)] A storage bunker for coal comprises a base member 1 on or in which stands wall elements 2 some or all of which have cheeks 4, 5 at angles corresponding to the shape of the bunker and each forming part of a different wall. The base member which may be a slab or may be an openframe, the bottom of the bunker then being formed by the ground, is provided with means such as an upstanding flange or tongue or a groove to prevent outward displacement of the wall sections which are if necessary provided with complementary tongues, grooves &c. Parts of two adjacent sections may be cut away at 6 to provide an extraction opening. The top of the bunker is closed by a frame 3 having a depending flange 7 or equivalent to engage over upper marginal portions of the wall elements, and a filling opening 8. The parts may be of wood or metal but are preferably of concrete, and no auxiliary fastening means are used to hold them together.
