Abstract
Plaster boards or other articles of plaster compositions are rendered waterproof by incorporating a wax or wax-like substance into the mix and heating the product to cause the substance to permeate the body. Paraffin wax or a mixture thereof and carnauba wax may be used and in the case of paraffin wax, 10-14 per cent by weight of the mix may be employed. The wax may be added in granular form or as an emulsion. After mixing, the mixture can be fed between two layers of paper to form a composite block which is passed to the drying apparatus wherein the water is evaporated and the wax melted.
