[Class 60] A razor blade sharpening, honing or stropping device comprises a shuttle adapted to enshroud a razor blade mounted on a fixed cross-bar in a frame, the shuttle being capable of oscillation about the axis of the said cross-bar and consisting of a pair of plates hinged together at one end, the surfaces of which are adapted to hold the surface of a strop, or alternatively a honing element, against opposite edges of the blade. A razor blade 13 to be sharpened is held by a slotted pin 14 on to a fixed cross-bar 12, having pips to engage holes in the blade, of a fixed frame 1. A shuttle comprising two flanged plates hingedly fixed together at one end is loosely mounted on the cross-bar 12 so as to enshroud the blade 13 and pivot about the pin 14. The shuttle is formed with internal ribs 19, 20 and cross-bars 8 to press a strop 15 against opposite edges of the blade 13 when one end of the strop is pulled, the strop passing over a roller 11 in the fixed frame 1. Spring- mounted plates may be carried by the shuttle to help press the strop against the blade edges. The pips on the cross-bar 12 may be slightly offset from the axis of the peg 14 so that the edges of the blade lie at a slight angle thereto. For honing, blade honing plates 21, Fig. 6, with ribs 25 may be spring mounted, at 26, in the shuttle so that when the strop is removed and the shuttle oscillated by hand, the ribs are slidingly moved relatively to blade 13 owing to the resilient mounting of the honing plates.
