618,547. Linear-dimension gauges. SNELLING, J. C. Oct. 7, 1946, No. 29896. [Class 106 (ii)] A linear-dimension gauge has a three-point contact between a movable member and a stock on which it slides provided by three hardened steel rollers. An outer jaw B is fixed to or integral with a stock A and an inner sliding jaw C has fixed thereto a frame D with flanges d<1>, d<2> to which are screwed front cover plates d<3>, d<4> for retaining rollers e<3>, h<3>, h<4> in their respective recesses in a bar E fixed to the frame D by screws e<1> and in an equalizing bar H held by grub-screws h<5>, h<6>. For permanent setting a screw K engages a brass pad J. An adjustable stop M is attached to the stock by a screw m<1> and provides a bearing for a screw L with operating nut l<1> for traversing the sliding jaw C. The invention may be applied to a depth gauge.
