Abstract
363,227. Binoculars. KERSHAW, N. and SOHO, Ltd., 3, Soho Square, London. Feb. 21, 1931, No. 5483. [Class 97 (i).] In binoculars having a rigid body in which the objectives are mounted, and having telescopically mounted eyepieces which are simultaneously adjusted for focusing, the body is provided with a removable front plate adapted to retain both objectives in position and to afford a bearing for the focusing screwmechanism. The removable front plate 2 is secured by screws 3 engaging in nuts 5 and is formed with flanges 10 entering the sight bores 9 and bearing on the objectives 6, packing rings 7 being interposed between the flanges and the lenses and between the lenses and the body 1. The central.portion of the plate 2 is provided with a boss 12 entering a cylindrical extension of the nut 11 of the focusing means. The nut also has a rearward extension entering a bore 13 in the body 1, and the non-rotatable screw 14 operated by the nut has a rearward extension 15 passing out through the body and secured to the cross-head 17 connecting the eyepieces 18.
