844,962. Telescopes: objectives. LEITZ G. m. b. H., E. Oct. 22, 1957 [April 23, 1957], No. 32924/57. Class 97(1) A telescope comprises an achromatic objective having two positive components one of which is movable and one of which has between 40% and 60% of the total power of the objective based on a focal length of 100 units at a spacing between the components of 2À3 units. Preferably the rear component is a doublet 8 which is exactly movable by rotating a ring 12 as a result of inter-action between magnetic rings 10, 11 as described in Specification 789,001. The front component is preferably a simple lens 2. The ratio of the refractive powers of the two components lies between 0À7 and 1À5 and the maximum distance between the components preferably does not exceed 5% of the objectives focal length at a spacing of 2-3 units.
