Abstract
410,292. Binoculars. KERSHAW, N., and SOHO, Ltd., 3, Soho Square, London. March 2, 1933, No. 6331. [Class 97 (i).] In binoculars having a hinged body for interocular adjustment, and a focusing screw mechanism actuating a correspondingly hinged bridge or bar carrying the eyepieces, the hinged bridge is totally enclosed by the hinged body of the binoculars. The body comprises two hollow parts 1 pivoted by a sleeve bearing 2 which forms a housing for the focusing screw 3 and nut 4. The two parts of the hinged bridge 5 carrying the cyepieces 10 pass through slots 6 in the sleeve 2 and are rotatably mounted on the nut 4. One of the slots 6 is of such width as to act as a guide for axial movement of the bar 5 passing through it, while the other is of such greater width as will permit the other bar 5 to have the full angular movement of the parts 1 about the sleeve 2. To prevent separation of the parts 1, they are formed with undercut bearing recesses engaged by rings 7 on the sleeve 2. The bar 5 is guided axially by rods 9. The eyepieces 10 telescope through bearing holes in the rear plate 11 of the body.
