Abstract

463,380. Wrenches. GLUTH, R., and GLUTH, B., (trading as GLUTH & CO., R.). Aug. 18, 1936, No. 22704. [Class 61 (iii)] The slidable-jaw member 1 of an adjustable spanner is guided along its whole length by the fixed jaw member 2 which is of U-section with the edges turned in to enclose almost completely the member 1. The adjusting worm 10 is mounted in bearing members 11 secured by small pins 15 in U-section projections 7, 8 on the member 2, and has a central bore housing a coil spring and two balls urged thereby to engage a pair of recesses in the bearing members 11, this arrangement allowing the worm to be pulled out of engagement with a rack on the member 1 for rapid adjustment of the latter. Scales 19, 20 are provided along the edges 3 to indicate the setting of the jaw space. The member 1 may be lengthened to extend at 16 beyond the member 2 and the extension provided with a nut aperture 17.
